WHAT IS THE CAMPUS ENGAGEMENT PROGRAM (CEP)?

The Office of Undergraduate Studies invites community members, prospective transfer students, middle and high school students and instructors to connect and engage with higher education through the Campus Engagement Program. It’s never too early or too late to begin your college journey.

Campus visits at the University of Utah are valuable learning experiences that spark academic interests and set participants on a path toward higher education. We fill these campus visits with engaging, interactive experiences to help students and community members imagine themselves in college. Rather than focus on full walking tours of campus, we collaborate with over 35 academic and student success departments at the University to arrange for a variety of activities and demonstrations. Prospective students seeking a full campus tour should schedule one through the Office of Admissions.

The demand for visits through the Campus Engagement Program is always growing and availability is limited. We encourage you to submit your campus visit requests as early as possible. If you are interested in scheduling a visit for the coming academic year, please fill out our campus visit request form.

The request form must be submitted 8 weeks in advance

Campus visits are open to community members, prospective transfer
students, as well as middle and high school students!

Natural History Museum of Utah (NHMU)

Offers field trips and educational visits to explore exhibitions and enhance classroom learning.learn more

Frequently Asked Questions

Our average campus visit lasts 4 hours (9:30 am - 1:30 pm). A four-hour campus visit typically includes an interactive experience with an academic department, a College 101 presentation, lunch on campus, a brief tour of the Marriot Library and A. Ray Olpin University Union.

Campus visits are free of charge! 

You are responsible for the cost of transportation to the University and the cost of lunch for the students, if applicable.

For schools or organizations facing significant financial restraint, we may be able to subsidize the cost of transportation and lunch for your campus visit. Please contact [email protected] with your inquiry.

Due to limited available space and staffing capacity, we are able to host groups of no more than 80 participants per day. Unfortunately, we cannot make exceptions.

After your group’s campus visit date has been confirmed, you can expect to receive:

  • Waivers for participants to complete
  • Information about bus loading and unloading, as well as parking information
  • An itinerary of the day
  • Day-of contact information

 

Meet The Team

Amery Kongphouthakhoun, Program Manager

Amery is a first-generation Lao-American woman and the first in her family to pursue and graduate from college. She holds bachelors and master’s degrees in Health and Kinesiology. She began her higher education career in 2014 as an intern with the Campus Engagement Program (CEP) and has worked with the program ever since. Amery has a passion for helping students navigate college and overcome the many barriers experienced by first-generation students or students from marginalized backgrounds.
